The Beast and False Prophet

Revelation 19:20:

20: And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image...

In this statement we have a clue as to the identity of the beast and the false prophet by John’s reference to the mark of the beast and to his image. This beast is the one the apostle saw arise from the sea like unto a leopard, with the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion. We saw that this beast was identified with commercial and economic activities. The false prophet of this verse is the second beast that arose from the earth, deceiving the men who had received the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image, for in their greed for gold and their desire to possess the coin of the realm they thus worshiped this image.
